The technology sector invested 5% more on innovation in 2009

The Spanish information and communication technologies sector increased the volume of investment on innovation by 5% in 2009, according to the information released by the Spanish Electronics, Information Technologies and Telecommunications Industry Association (AETIC).

The report notes that the sector is committed to innovation, even in times of crisis, as 85% of companies interviewed reported having maintained or increased their investment and only 15% as having cut back on investment.

The study also shows that in the last two years, companies have focused their investments on Internet services, online advertising, games and the convergence of fixed and mobile broadband.

Looking to the future, what most attracts business investment is cloud computing (computer services provided by Internet), a business that by 2012 could drive around 1,870 million Euro, according to various analysts.

The report was carried out based on interviews with executives, both from major national and international organizations, including small and medium sized enterprises.
