The Basque Government decides to include rural areas into the digital world

The Basque Government will push the introduction communication and information technologies in rural areas in order to promote their potential opportunities in terms of information and online services as well as the promotion of all population spheres.

The Department of Environment, Land Use Planning, Agriculture and Fisheries boosts the Dinamiza TIC (ICT) project in order to make the introduction of digital technologies into the rural world easier and therefore, create a digital culture which would provide rural population with online information and services.

This project has been put into practice in several Basque regions by Mendinet and Associations for Rural Development, together with Itsasmendikoi, the Basque Government"s public society and the support of other Basque Governmental departments which help initiatives that contribute to socialise communication and information technologies.

This project aims at creating services and citizen participation on the internet, consolidating knowledge in new technologies in these areas, promoting co-operative advance and co-ordinating the role of the different agents in order to provide a common area easily accessible for citizens where they can open new communication ways and new digital possibilities for e-business.
