More than 97 per cent of homes in Gipuzkoa where the analogue switchover is about to happen have already adapted their antenna in order to be able to watch the DTT. In addition, 94,6 per cent can already watch DTT channels and 98,8 per cent know about the new audio-visual system, according to the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce.
The subdelegate of the Government in Gipuzkoa, Francisco Jordán de Urríes, together with the director of the National Office for the Transition to DTT, José Antonio Quintela, and the director of Computing and Telecommunication of the Basque Government, Txema García Orois, informed about the final phase of the transition process to the DTT.
This third and final phase of the switchover will affect over 550,000 citizens of 65 towns of Gipuzkoa; amongst others, Donostia, Irun, Errenteria, Andoain, Azkoitia, Beasain, Hernani, Lasarte, Zarautz, Hondarribia, Tolosa, Ordizia and Villabona.
The Ministry advised these towns to adapt their homes and antenna to the new system before March 10.
The transition process to DTT will be finished by April 3, according to José Antonio Quintela, who emphasised that this process will be fulfilled in Gipuzkoa "with absolute normality".
