On 3rd July, at the institutional meeting held between the president of the Historical Community of Navarre, Miguel Sanz, and the Basque president Patxi López, it was agreed among questions to normalise the presence of ETB in the Historical Community.
The meeting held in the Palace of Navarre was also attended by the Minister of Culture, Blanca Urgell and the director of EITB, Alberto Surio.
The protocol signed establishes the general co-operation framework on questions of common interest, and specifically among those is the broadcasting of ETB in Navarre. In this respect the Government of the historical community authorises EITB1 and EITB2 to broadcast in Navarre via a new DTT multiplex.
For the broadcasting of said two channels to be technically possible and have the necessary licences, the Basque and Historical Community of Navarre Governments undertake to carry out the necessary bureaucratic procedures with the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce.
In addition the Navarre Government will carry out the opportune procedures so the aforementioned EITB channels can broadcast in the Historical Community, respecting in any event their images, timetables, brands and identification signs.
Likewise, all ETB broadcasts will respect the social, institutional and political reality, symbols and identity of Navarre pursuant to current legislation.
In addition, all programmes produced by ETB will ensure the different political and ideological questions of the Historical Community of Navarre are included and respected.
